Socks. They are one of the smallest items of clothing, yet an essential part of your day-to-day comfort. You may not think about the material that your socks are made from, and that thickest pair on the rack is always the warmest. This isn't always the case, and we've written this informative blog article to tell you about the benefits of an alpaca and merino wool sock, and why you should try on a pair!

What makes Alpaca and Merino socks a step up from most generic socks in the market?

Alpaca fibre is naturally soft, supple, and smooth, which means that the socks will never feel prickly or itchy against your skin. The fibre contains microscopic air pockets that act as natural heat insulators to maintain warmth provided by the wool, which is a great benefit if you’re prone to cold feet during the winter months. Unlike synthetic socks, natural wool is highly breathable and wicks away moisture and sweat to help regulate body temperature, keeping your feet dry and comfortable no matter the weather!

Our Yellow Earth socks come in two types – we have a thicker version called our Alpaca Health socks, made from 60% alpaca wool and 20% wool (for women, and men), which is thick and warm around the feet. This is great for when the weather gets colder or if you are more prone to colder feet.

We also have our everyday merino and alpaca socks that are made of 50% fine merino wool and 45% Peruvian baby alpaca (for women, and men). These are great for daily use all year long.

Both socks do not have tight elastic tops which adds comfort and helps to improve and support blood circulation to your feet.

What's the difference between Wool and Cotton socks?

If you’re wondering what the difference between Wool and Cotton socks are, Cotton socks are great for warmer seasons and not so good for the colder weather. Cotton does not retain heat well, which can result in cold toes. Wool on the other hand, is a great insulator of heat and will help to keep your whole foot warm.
