Steel is a rich, dark grey colourway that brings a contemporary edge to our long wool sheepskin rug range. Tanned from genuine Australian Merino sheepskin, this rug is thick, soft, and plush — the kind of texture that invites you to sit down and stay a while. Drape it over the end of the bed, style it beneath a favourite armchair, or lay it across the sofa for an instant layer of warmth and personality.
Why Sheepskin, Not Synthetic
Unlike synthetic faux-fur rugs, genuine sheepskin is naturally breathable — it helps regulate temperature, staying warm underfoot in winter and surprisingly cool in summer. The dense, long wool fibres are hypoallergenic and naturally resistant to dust mites, making this rug just as at home in a nursery or bedroom as it is in the living room.

A Note on Sizing
We're conservative with our measurements — the actual rug you receive may be slightly larger than stated. We measure from the pelt (leather) side only, not including the wool fibres that extend outward, which typically adds at least a further 10cm to every dimension.
Keeping It Looking Its Best
Cold wash using our dedicated Woolskin Shampoo, then dry flat in the shade — or opt for professional dry-cleaning if you'd prefer. As this is a 100% natural product, expect gentle colour variation between individual rugs and what's shown on screen. If you're ordering two or more to match, we recommend placing them in one order so our team can hand-select the closest tones together. We'd also recommend keeping the rug out of direct, prolonged sunlight, since strong UV exposure can gradually affect the colour of dyed sheepskin over time. See our full washing guide for more tips.

Very skinny to what I was expecting to pay for not like pictures
Hi Jo-Ann, we're sorry to hear the rug didn't meet your expectations. From the photo it looks like you have washed the sheepskin rug. A tip is to stretch the sheepskin hide out to shape while the leather is still wet as it is very pliable, this way as the hide dries, it will maintain shape.

I absolutely love my sheep skin. I bought two and put them both by each bedside. They are the last thing I step on before bed, and the first thing I feel when I put my feet on the ground in the morning. So soft and fluffy. Beautiful colour...I just want to lay on it all day!! No smell, no mess, arrived in perfect condition. Perfectly made...10/10. I've never had the money to buy a real sheep skin rug but when I saw the price...and felt the cold winter setting in...(plus a tax return)..I splurged and got two for beside the bed...they are so lovely, I almost don't want to step on it. Well done, highly recommend.
